My mom is amazed that Ariel's favorite movie is "The Adventures of Milo & Otis," because it's so slow-paced and kinda boring. I told her, "Well, Ariel loves animals" but the other day I realized there's more to it than that; she loves to be read to, and it's like Dudley Moore is reading you a story but instead of seeing pictures on a page you're seeing video footage of all the action. So it's probably better than a book to Ariel, because if there's something she doesn't understand, it's shown to her right away!
Also, Ariel likes watching her Baby Einstein, Baby Genius and Fisher-Price Baby DVDs, which are slow-paced, show people, toys and animals doing things, and are loaded w/classical music, just like "Milo" (as she calls it, although she's recently started calling it "Otis" sometimes). And I suspect Ariel is fine with the slower pace, because she hasn't seen many of the more exciting movies like the Disney/Pixar films yet (although she likes cars, so I've been thinking of showing her that movie soon). She does watch Charlotte's Web, and Thomas and the Magic Railroad sometimes, and she has seen The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland and the VeggieTales movies (and DVDs) , but her favorite movie right now is The Adventures of Milo & Otis. She'll sit and watch the whole thing!
