Surprises

We've had a bunny in our yard the last two evenings, so it looks like s/he is here to stay for a while! Greg went out to turn the sprinkler off last night, and scared the bunny away; it was in our front yard right by the porch steps, eating clover. He came back in to tell us, and Ariel wanted to go see it, so out we went (she's enjoyed watching it from inside, while I wash the dinner dishes). She decided she needed to talk to it, so she said, "Hello, rabbit! You don't have to be scared," and when Daddy said it was time to go back in, she told me, "I just want to say bye to bunny," and then waved while saying, "Bye, rabbit!" :o)

Today Ariel and I went to the library; as I was checking out at the desk, she was looking at letters in the tile on the floor (it says something about reading or books, I've never read it so I don't know exactly), and at first she said, "What's that?" because the letters were upside down to her. But then she surprised me by saying what the individual letters were! She knows her upper- and lower-case letters, but I didn't know she knew her upside-down letters! Another library patron was coming to the desk and saw Ariel reading the letters and said, "You can read! Wow!" and told me, "I'm surprised she knows her letters!" I told her, "I'm surprised she knows them upside-down!"
