Last Thursday we went to Brookfield Zoo with my sister-in-law and her two boys. Ariel seemed amazed at how big giraffes and elephants really are!And when we saw the tiger sleeping with his/her back to us, she kept reaching for it, leaning towards it, and told me she wanted down; I think she wanted to go pet it! We also got to see two snow leopards up close; they were sleeping by the glass, and one was upside down with his back paws against it. Ariel thought that was funny!
She enjoyed seeing some fish in the various tanks they have, and she liked seeing the seals and dolphins in the underwater viewing areas, especially when one dolphin was playing with a ball (Ariel really likes balls).
We went to the children's zoo, where she got to pet goats, and saw pigs (a sow and not-so-little piglets -- she was surprised at how big they are, too!), and we saw cows, ducks, chickens, horses, racoons, a turkey vulture, red-tailed hawk, and a donkey. After that she fell asleep, but woke up in time for the giraffes.
It was neat seeing her face light up at animals she knows, hearing her call out their names or the sounds they make, and using baby signs to tell me about them!
